Steven Spielberg's company DreamWorks is producing the £40 million tale which is being directed by Gore Verbinski and has been written by Jeff Nathanson who created Rush Hour. The movie is based on Frank Abagnale Jr's memoirs about how an FBI agent trapped one of the youngest criminals ever to make the agency's Most Wanted List. DiCaprio will play the loveable rogue who succesfully impersonated an airline pilot, a doctor, a legal officer and a history professor. He also swindled institutions out of £4 million passing dud cheques in 26 different countries. Gandolfino plays the 'tec who tracks him down and captures him. The film is due to be made in February. An inside source said: "The fascinating thing is the relationship which develops between the two men. Though they are foes they are more like father and son. They completely understand each other though their paths don't cross. "This will be the most challenging role Leonardo has also taken on because the boy he plays has this subtle edge of sophistication." |
